The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has served as the prime professional organization in the communications community for over 75 years. With a network of over 400 student and professional chapters in the United States and worldwide, PRSA enables members to be their very best through multiple premium professional development programs, exclusive networking events and leadership opportunities. Some signature events are the Anvil Awards and ICON, the top-tier annual conference of communications professionals and students.

Ameda Uwaifo
President
Ameda Uwaifo is a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno studying journalism with an emphasis in public relations and advertising with minors in cinema and media studies and art. She is a Las Vegas native and currently serves as the outreach intern for the Kenny Guinn Center for Policy Priorities, treasurer of the Gender, Race and Identity Club on campus and social media manager of her Bible study group.
In the future, she hopes to work in the entertainment and film industry or with education and libraries. She likes drawing, rock climbing, and crocheting in her free time.

“I’m a 24-year-old Latina born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. My major is journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in communications. As I approach the end of my third year at the University of Nevada, Reno, I’ve grown to love the world of public relations through my courses at the Reynolds School of Journalism. Continuing to network with my peers and professors, I’ve decided to join the PRSSA Nevada Chapter as Vice President and the Journalism Student Council as the Social Media Director.”

Kammi Miyashita is pursuing a degree in Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Business Administration, expected to graduate in Spring 25. In her free time, she loves playing Pickleball, eating Sushi, and being home with her family in Hawai’i.

“Hello! My name is Charlie Sakmar, I go by he/him, I’m 22 years old, and I’m a 5th year student at UNR due to changing majors. I am very passionate about writing and look forward to applying myself in my final semester. I love playing video games, listening to music, playing pinball, and seeking out thrills. I could talk for hours about my favorite things if you let me. When I’m older, I want to travel the world and visit different amusement parks.
FUN FACTS:
I keep a list on my phone of every single rollercoaster I’ve ever ridden. As of the time of writing this, I’ve ridden 112.
My current favorite band is King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Favorite advertising campaign would probably be Metro Trains’s “Dumb Ways to Die”
I’ve never left the country, but the farthest I’ve been from home is New York City
My favorite amusement parks are Six Flags: Magic Mountain, Hersheypark, and Knott’s Berry Farm
I have 3 cats at home named Cinnamon, Shadow, and Fuzz Aldrin.”
